Be careful not to pick the wrong one, or all your efforts will be wasted! At the same time, carefully inspect the oil seals you receive for any visible flaws or damage.
This is crucial! From receiving the hydraulic ram oil seals to assembly, the oil seals must be kept spotless. Even a small amount of dust, impurities, or oil stains can be detrimental to the oil seal's performance and shorten its lifespan. Imagine if a tiny grain of sand sticks to the oil seal during assembly – it could scratch the lip of the seal during use, severely affecting its sealing performance!
Before assembly, do not neglect to check the hydraulic ram oil seals! Not only should you measure whether the dimensions of the oil seal fit the shaft and cavity, but you should also closely examine the shape of the oil seal lips to ensure they are not deformed. Check if the spring is intact, and ensure there is no rust or detachment. This is similar to checking your appearance in the mirror before going out – you want to ensure everything is in top condition. For instance, if the oil seal lip is damaged or deformed, it will not fit tightly against the shaft surface, leading to leakage problems.
This is a critical step! The dimensional accuracy of the shaft and cavity, the quality of the chamfering, and the surface smoothness all directly impact the installation and sealing performance of the oil seal. For example, if the internal chamfer has a slope or burrs, it could easily scratch the hydraulic ram oil seals during installation, rendering the seal ineffective.
Use your hand to feel the smoothness and roundness of the shaft and cavity. While this is a preliminary method for judgment, it will give you an initial idea of the situation. However, don't rely entirely on this method – for high-precision requirements, professional tools should be used.
Before installation, do not open the hydraulic ram oil seals packaging too early, as foreign particles can easily stick to the surface of the oil seals and be brought into the work. It's like preparing for a competition – don't reveal your "weapon" prematurely to avoid any interference.
Before installation, apply an appropriate amount of lithium grease containing molybdenum disulfide to the oil seal lips. This is a little trick that helps prevent dry rubbing against the lips when the shaft starts up, which can affect the interference fit of the lips. However, make sure that the hands or tools used to apply the lithium grease are clean and dry.
The hydraulic ram oil seals should be installed flat, not at an angle. It is recommended to use hydraulic equipment or a sleeve tool for installation. The pressure should not be too high, and the speed should be steady and slow. Treat it with care, as if handling a precious item – don't rush.
For equipment with the oil seal installed, mark it for tracking purposes. If you are not installing it immediately, cover the oil seal with a cloth to prevent foreign objects from sticking to it. When transitioning to a stepped shaft, use a copper guide ring or protective plastic tape to shield the oil seal from damage.
